Q: Where did the name Puma Da Vinci come from? What is the story behind your name? Was this always your name?

A: Puma Da Vinci was inspired by Leonardo Da Vinci, the artist who made the Mona Lisa. That piece of artwork inspires me because it is timeless and I want my music to be the same way. Puma Juma basically comes from the fact that nobody knew how to say Juma so I used to just say call me Puma w/ a J.

Q: what is your opinion or feeling to the injustices that are going on? How do you think your art can make an impact on this?

A: I believe art is just a small part of this bigger issue. The impact will be made in behaviour and actions, being the difference that I want to see. As far as The music it will always be a birds-eye view into the life of a black man in America because that’s what I am. So you will hear about the injustices and fight to not become another statistic due to the systematic racism that holds back minorities and enslaves so many brown people in this country. It’s heartbreaking to know a black life has no value in America but brings so much value to American culture.
