Providence artist Hell0Cakes

Hello, my name is Francheska, also known as Hell0cakes on IG. I’m from Providence, Rhode Island and I enjoy making my art.

Q: What do you like to illustrate the most and why?

I enjoy drawing my monsters the most! They’re super easy to drawing I find them really adorable even with their crazy faces.

Q: Would you ever illustrate for a children's book or show, why or why not?

Yes, I absolutely would! I actually illustrated a coloring book in 2018 and I had a blast doing it!

Q: Where would you like to take your career?

I would like to create a cartoon one day and I especially would love to turn my cartoons into action figures!

Q: What system do you use for your Illustrations? Is there a specific tablet you like to work on or platform?

I just use procreate on my iPad Pro. It’s easy and fun to use and it’s similar to drawing on paper. I’ll bring an image to photoshop there I can’t do it on procreate.

Q: What made you want to make apparel? How did you come up with the design?

My most popular design is the “He Got Henny!” Tee. It actually wasn’t even supposed to be on a shirt. My brother wanted me to draw a picture of him holding a bottle of Hennessy but I thought that was boring so I drew the whole club scene. I had a few people tell me to put it on a shirt and that’s what I did! I didn’t expect the shirt to do as well as it did.

Q: Have you made a specific series? If so what is it? If not would you?

I haven’t made a specific series just yet but I plan to in the future.

Q: What piece took the longest to make? What about this piece took you so long?

I would have to say the “He Got Henny!” drawing. It took me about two days, 24 hours in total to complete. It took so long only because if the amount of detail that went into the drawing. But I actually had a lot of fun drawing it so I didn’t mind.

Q: Who is your favorite artist? Past and present.

I wouldn’t say I have just one favorite artist because I like so many but some of my top favs are Yoji Shinkawa, Kim Jung Gi, Lauren Ys, Salvador Dali, and a whole lot more!

Q: How do you use your artwork to touch on things that are happening around you? How about expressing who you are?

Besides commission work, I like to use my artwork to express how I’m feeling. I’m not the best with my words so I like to draw them out.
