Inside the Music of HeyeYella

Greetings, ladies and gentlemen! It is your friendly neighborhood caveman shinobi, the man, the myth, the legend HeyeYella here. You may have seen me around, maybe never seen me before, but I have some good vibes to share.

Q: When did you make your first song? How would you say your music has changed since the first song?

The first time I ever recorded a song, I think, was in ninth grade. We were just having fun killing time, nothing serious. My level of perception and love for music was always present. It went from a hobby to becoming an acquired skill, which in turn changed the tone of my music. There is more intention behind it now.

Q: What do you want fans to know about your song Drunken Master? Is there anything you want people to know about the video?

I just want them to listen, making whatever connections they see fit. For me, this was my way of honoring a promise to not only those around me, those of whom we have lost but to myself in staying on par with the task at hand. As for the fans, It is for them essentially to interpret as they feel.

Q: What would you say makes your music stand out?

I am cryptic at times. I have a way of saying some things the average person may or may not understand but they feel the vibe in it. The ones who peep game get the whole experience even if it is just surface level.

Q: What made you want to release an EP? Where did the name Cloud Crown come from?

I wanted to follow up on my project "Strange Noize" without making the fans wait another x amount of years to hear it. The vibes for Cloud Crown all came from a crazy day at the Zhu, where most of the song concepts were brainstormed and organically created. My engineer, Zhudaru1963 took the cover photo and showed it to me which gave us the idea to call it Cloud Crown. It perfectly describes the vibe we were on making it.

Q: Would you say that your writing, for your songs, has changed? If so how?

I mean the intent behind it will always remain the same. I am just working towards being more aware of what and how I say things to get the point across to the listener.

Q: What made you want to do an album release party? How did that go?

I just wanted to try something new regarding presenting the music to my fans. It was a movie! All jokes aside we had a great time, and got to hang out with some friends and family I do not usually get to see I even performed a few songs off of the project for everyone that pulled up before it was published live at Midnight—a Highlight for sure.

Q: What do you like to rap about most and why?

I like to speak on what is relatable. Things I have struggled with or overcame in case someone else can pick something up from it that will help them. For me, that kind of vibe liberates in a sense. I once heard that "A joyful sound can change the world" so I am paying it forward the same way to inspire with that in mind.

Q: When did you learn how to skateboard? Are there any other interests you have, besides skateboarding and music?

My dad got me my first board when I was nine or ten. Other than that, I am a pretty average guy who likes reading about ancient mythology, historical events, supernatural phenomena, etc. I like occasionally gaming with the homies and being around a body of water or some trees. Nothing too fancy.

Q: Apple music or spotify? Why?

I utilize both for different reasons but I am an iPhone user so I got to go Apple Music simply because it has all the tunes I like and the button is way closer ya know?
