The Young Picassos

Q: What is the story of you guys coming together to create a group?

The Young Picassos

A: I believe it was fate for the three of us to join forces. Carlos & I have been playing in the same band for almost a decade. Then I went away to attend Rutgers University where I pledged ΙΦΘ Inc. and met Pete. Shortly after Pete was “crossed” our frat decided to host a pre Valentine’s Day banquet. We thought it would be a nice touch to have a live band perform. We had a melody. We had a keyboard. All we were missing was a drummer... After Carlos, Pete, and I performed at that banquet, the rest was history.

Q: What are each one of your names and where are you guys from?

A: My name is Jevaun aka “Lord Tenor” and I’m from Rockland County, NY. Nationality Trinidadian and St. Thomian.

My name is Pete aka “PlayBoyPete” - Elizabeth, NJ - Nationality Haitian.

Lastly, my name is Carlos aka “Carlos The DrummeЯ” (The R is backwards) ; from Rockland County, NY Nationality Hatian.

Q: How did you guys feel like when you were getting noticed?

A: Excited because we were testing so many waters at first, just to see what kind of demographic crowd we would attract playing a wide variety music from eras and cultures. And thanks to social media, we never knew who’d be watching.*

~Carlos The DrummeЯ

I personally believe we were very prepared as we first started getting noticed. Not too many people are familiar with the concept of a steel band, so we made ourselves relevant by taking every opportunity we could to share our unique style. With all the sacrifices we made, it was inevitable that something positive would come from it

~Lord Tenor

I thought it was a great feeling to know that our hard work was being appreciated. Not only that but we were different from other bands to the point where we’ve received numerous compliments of people saying we have something special here and can really go far.

Q: What do you like most about being on tour? What do you like the least?

A: most: meeting different faces every day, every gig is a new show even at the same locations....least: long car rides. It is time to start flying

~Carlos The DrummeЯ

Q: What is something you would like the public to know as you as a group? How about individuals.

A: Our greatest enemy is ourselves. We have no ceiling but can only get better from here. 2019 is the time for bigger and better things, with music and opportunities being the focal point. Constantly growing everyday to be better than I was yesterday. The band helps add to that overall growth which is great because all people want to do is grow. There’s no time for complacency

~PlayBoyPete

Q: What is something you would like the public to know about your projects that you have been working on if any?

A: I don’t want to go too much into detail, but we are currently working on a project which will allow us to be very transparent with our fans and show them the behind the scenes of us touring!

~Lord Tenor

Q: If you guys could perform anywhere in the world where would it be?

A: West Africa or France

Q: What do you guys like most about A.L.I.E.N Entertainment?

A: The fact that they go out of their way to support up and coming local artist and those dad hats are fire too.

~Lord Tenor

They have a good variety of underground artists I’ve never heard of before. It’s refreshing to know my brand has a place.

~Carlos The DrummeЯ

I like there social media presence and what they’ve established so far. Doing a really great job with displaying different artists within art, music and photography to their community. Every post seems to have a different content but all relatable in the sense that you still represent your overall definition of A.L.I.E.N
